Wall Street Journal recently published an article Dominant Eye Surgery Chain LASIKPlus Put Profit Over Patient Care, Some Doctors Say. Todd J. Krouner sent his response to the editor:
To the Editor:
I am writing in response to Mark Maremont’s article Dominant Eye Surgery Chain LASIKPlus Put Profit Over Patient Care, Some Doctors Say, which was published yesterday. You report that LasikPlus put profit over care. That is not news. I have been making that argument for more than 15 years on behalf of patients who were injured at high volume LASIK factories. What is news is that the so-called “independent contractor” surgeons employed by LasikPlus are finally complaining publicly about its bankrupt business model. For the likes of Dr. Eric Donnenfeld, who was Medical Director of a predecessor LASIK factory, TLC, to complain about how unsafe LasikPlus is, LASIK candidates must take notice.
